Blackneck's Triumph

This is not so much a full blown project rather a re emergence of my pre unit bonnie after being parked up in my front room for 17 years ( The rising of the pheonix ) After club bro Guzzi got his swinging arm T100 it got me to thinking that NOW was the time for my Triumph to see daylight again. I bought the front cradle for this bike when i was 19 years old and it had been in various builds since then up to it being parked up all them years ago looking like this.

It sports a home made hardtail , sissy bar , oil tank , battery box , forward footrests , rear footrests , open primary chaingaurd , side mount number plate , rear axle plates , gear linkage , rear brake rod and countless brackets and fastners all of which (apart from oil tank and hardtail ) are made out of stainless steel ( I made the oil tank from a petrol tank off a lawn mower ) I bought the crank cases for a fiver and the engine went from there. Its got a 10 stud 750cc unit bonniville head , dural pushrod tubes , dural valve adjuster nuts , brand new concentric carbs and a reconditioned magneto.

There are various jobs i want to do to it before it coming out spring 2008 such as:

New front wheel rim,new tyre and tube, polished hub, respoked, new wheel bearings :

And here it is :

I have also had new rocker plates ,bushes and a spindle made for springer forks :

The side mount looked like it could do with reworking so i am going to make a new stainless steel carrier for new double lens rear light and number plate :

As you can see the rear mudgaurd has got stone chips around the edges and is a bit rusty underneath so f***k it gunna get a new one and it and the petrol tank are being treated to a fresh coat of BLACK (lol ) paint.

It as also had new

Rear tyre and tube , rear wheel bearings , pick up brush holders , ht leads , plug caps , clutch cable , handle bar grips , battery , petrol caps , front brake shoes , stainless front wheel spindle , front wheel bearings , oil lines , fuel lines ,petcocks ,digital speedo , front brake cable , alloy front brake lever , alloy clutch lever , bolt on brake hub and sproket , 6 inch rear mudguard, clutch springs and no doubt other new bits will go on as i go along.

Of course ive given it a full service with new gaskets where appropiate and of course OIL.

I stripped the carbs as a matter of course and found them to be bunged up with this brown syrupy s**t, it wouldnt have fired up in a million years with that crud in the jets.

On stands in front room (its own indoor garage)

The 2 photos below are with the rocker arms installed and the front wheel in.

Its also had a fresh coat of paint on the mustang twin cap tank.

Thats about it for now will add more as work progress.

UPDATE

My triumph ran for the first time in nearly 20 yrs today ( 1 / 3 / 2008 ) it was breathing fire and sounded so GOOD after not hearing it for all that time
